Brian Santhumayor fled the regime of Ugandan President Idi Amin and arrived in India as a refugee.
After eighteen years working in technology in South Asia, the Middle East, and North America, he interned in the Department's Office of Overseas Citizens Services in 2010 and joined the Bureau of Consular Affairs in 2011 as a crisis management specialist, helping U.S. embassies prepare for emergencies.
